Pooch & Mutt acquires Biome9

Pooch & Mutt, which claims to be one of the UK’s fastest-growing pet food companies, has announced the acquisition of Biome9. With this strategic move, the company aims to enhance the customer experience and provide holistic solutions to help dogs of all breeds and individual needs live healthy lives. A minority stake in Pooch & Mutt was acquired in 2020 by the Vafo Group, which had already been a long-term production partner. By 2023, Vafo acquired the remaining 60 per cent, giving it full ownership of the brand. 

Founded in 2023, Biome9 has built its reputation on its gut health assessment service and supplement plans. Using science, research and AI, Biome9 dives deep into dogs' microbiomes to identify gaps and provide personalised support, the company said in a press release.

By tapping into Biome9's expertise, Pooch & Mutt can now provide more precise, science-based recommendations tailored to each dog's microbiome. This is in line with the company's vision of giving pets what they really need, while strengthening its position in the pet food sector.
